The Excavation Site is one of nine new dungeons in World of Warcraft: Forever, built above Whelgar's Excavation in the Wetlands. PewPewShop sells an Excavation Site Dungeon Run (Wetlands) from EUR 16 as a pre-order, played with you by a vetted human group after launch on November 4, 2026. Bosses, loot and the official level range are not yet published.
Excavation Site: what is actually confirmed
- Where: Wetlands, Eastern Kingdoms, above the existing Whelgar's Excavation dig site.
- What it is: a brand-new instance, not a rework of an old one. Blizzard listed it among the nine launch dungeons at BlizzCon on September 12, 2026.
- Level tier (hint, not official): Wowhead photographed a "Spelunker: Novice" achievement at the demo that groups it with Ragefire Chasm, Hall of Thanes, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep. That puts it in the early bracket, but Blizzard has not printed a level range.
- Bosses and loot: unpublished. Anyone quoting a boss list or drop today is guessing.
- Playable from: November 4, 2026, 3 p.m. Pacific. The beta (September 17 to October 21) caps at level 30, so this dungeon may be testable there.

How does an Excavation Site run with PewPewShop work?

Why book a low-level dungeon at all in Classic Plus?
Forever keeps the original leveling curve: no level scaling, no flying, roughly 10 to 15 seconds per ordinary mob solo. Dungeons are where the speed and the gear are, and every dungeon drop in Forever was re-examined, with unique boss items now Rare (blue) quality. New this time: bind-on-pickup Uncommon and Rare dungeon drops hand their appearance to every eligible looter for transmog, so a single clear can fill in several collection entries at once.
Early dungeons also gate the new Camping system. Advanced campfire objects come from Blueprint recipes dropped by specific dungeon bosses. Which boss drops which Blueprint is not public yet, so treat that as a reason to be curious, not a guaranteed reward.
Whelgar's Excavation vs Excavation Site: are they the same thing?
No. Whelgar's Excavation is the open-world dwarven dig in the Wetlands that Classic players know from the raptor and fossil quests. The Excavation Site is a new instanced dungeon placed above it. Blizzard has not said how much of the outdoor site appears inside the instance, so treat any "the dungeon includes Sida's Bag" style claims as unconfirmed.
