Yes — in World of Warcraft: Forever, crafted food grants a small XP bonus as well as a stat boost, which turns Cooking from a nice-to-have into an actual leveling tool. Blizzard confirmed this at the BlizzCon deep dive on September 13, 2026, but has not published the exact percentage. Food is part of the 600+ new profession recipes arriving with the November 4, 2026 launch.
What Blizzard has actually confirmed
- Crafted food = small XP bonus + stat boost. Both effects come from cooked items, not from vendor food.
- Exact XP number: not published. Anyone quoting "+5%" or "+10%" is guessing. Treat any figure as a placeholder until the beta (September 17 – October 21, 2026, capped at level 30) or launch patch notes settle it.
- 600+ new recipes across professions, Cooking included. Individual recipe lists are not out.
- Cooking Fire becomes the Basic Campfire. Camping is a new system: sit at a campsite, get rested, use vendors, repair, and pick up one-hour buffs from crafted objects other players place.
- Cooks learn upgraded Campfires that hold five or ten crafted objects instead of the basic three — so a Cook is the person who makes a group campsite worth stopping at.
- Level cap is 60 and never rises, so any XP bonus is about getting alts to 60 faster, not chasing a moving target.
How food XP fits with the other Forever XP sources
| Source | What it does | Status |
| Crafted food | Small XP bonus + stats while the buff is up | Confirmed, number unknown |
| Rested XP at a campfire | Sit by the fire to become rested | Confirmed |
| Legacy: Well Rested | More rested XP and a higher rested cap (account-wide tree) | Confirmed, +4% per rank seen at the demo |
| Campfire profession objects | One-hour stat buffs (Attack Power, Spirit, Intellect), not XP | Confirmed |
Stacking rules between food XP, rested XP and Legacy perks have not been explained. Do not assume they multiply.
Is Cooking worth leveling while I level in Forever?
Yes, more than in Classic. In original Classic, Cooking was mostly a raid-prep chore; in Forever it feeds you XP while you quest and upgrades your campfire so groups gravitate to you. Cooking is also a secondary skill, so it costs nothing in terms of primary profession slots. Level it as you go with the meat and fish you already loot.
The honest caveat: with no exact number, you cannot yet calculate how many hours a full 1–60 saves. Boosters currently estimate 2–3 weeks for a launch-week 1–60 without factoring in unpublished bonuses.
Do I need Fishing for the food XP bonus?
Not necessarily. Many Classic-style recipes use meat from beasts you kill anyway. Fishing widens your recipe pool and is usually the cheapest way to keep a Cook fed with ingredients, but nothing published says the XP bonus is tied to fish dishes specifically. Which dishes carry the XP effect — all of them or a subset — is unknown.
Do the campfire buffs give XP too?
No. The three crafted campfire objects (Blacksmith Sharpening Wheel, Tailor Faction Banner, Herbalist Incense Candle) give Attack Power, Spirit and Intellect respectively. They are variants of class buffs and do not stack with them. The XP part comes from the food you eat, and the rested state comes from sitting by the fire. First campfire objects unlock at profession skill 20; advanced Blueprints drop from specific dungeon bosses.
Does food XP work in Hardcore?
Unknown. Hardcore is a separate, enclosed ruleset arriving after launch, and its rules were not published at announcement. Legacy progress flows out of Hardcore but nothing flows in, so plan Hardcore leveling around what you can craft inside that ruleset.
What to do before November 4
- Reserve names October 27 – November 3 (up to three characters with any upgrade pack).
- Plan to pick up Cooking at your first trainer and hold onto raw meat instead of vendoring it.
- Watch the September 17 Blizzard Q&A (18:00 BST on the official Warcraft Twitch and YouTube) — food XP numbers are a likely question.
- If you are in the beta, test whether the food buff stacks with rested XP; that is the number that matters for alt leveling.
If you would rather not grind ingredients on every alt, PewPewShop's vetted human players can level Cooking, First Aid and Fishing for you from EUR 39 on a play-together or rent-a-pro basis, or run a Forever profession 1–300 from EUR 29 — no bots, no cheats, long zero-ban record. Forever orders are pre-orders until launch day.
