WoW: Forever's Legacy system has three account-wide, talent-style trees: Professions (Bountiful Harvest gives extra ore, herbs and leather), Adventure (Well Rested raises rested XP and its cap) and Resourcefulness (Reagent Economy removes reagent costs from class abilities). You earn one Legacy point per completed Legacy Challenge, up to 65 in total, and each character can spend up to 16 points at launch.
The three Legacy trees at a glance
| Tree | What it improves | Perks confirmed so far |
| Professions | Gathering and crafting | Bountiful Harvest (more materials from Mining, Herbalism, Skinning), Working Overtime (+4% skill-up chance per rank), Dedicated Study (23-hour cooldown) |
| Adventure | Leveling speed | Well Rested (+4% rested XP per rank, higher rested cap), Talented (talent points from level 9, still 51 max) |
| Resourcefulness | Running costs and grinds | Reinforce (−6% durability loss per rank), Diplomat (+2% reputation per rank), For Great Honor (+2% Honor per rank), Reagent Economy (deep in the tree: no reagents for class abilities) |
- Source of points: Legacy Challenges in six categories — Exploring, Leveling Classes, Increasing Tradeskills, Earning PvP Ranks, Maximizing Reputations, Completing Dungeons and Raids. One challenge = one point.
- Pool: up to 65 Legacy Points can be earned; each character spends up to 16 at launch.
- Sharing: the point pool is account-wide across every ruleset, but each character allocates its own spread. Hardcore is the exception: progress flows out of Hardcore, nothing flows in.
- Overflow: points beyond what you can spend feed the Legacy Reward Track — Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, Spectral Bear Cub pet, Spectral Bear tabard and Reins of the Spectral Bear. Cosmetic only.
- Non-combat by design: nothing in the trees adds raid damage. It is all about making alts, gathering and grinds less painful.
How do you earn Legacy points in WoW: Forever?
By finishing Legacy Challenges, which are milestone-style goals rather than daily chores: get a specific class to a level target, hit a tradeskill skill mark, earn a PvP rank, max a reputation, explore a region, or clear a dungeon or raid. Every completed challenge is worth exactly one point, and the six categories mean a raider, a PvPer and a crafter all feed the same pool.
Because the pool is shared, the fastest way to fill a fresh alt's 16 slots is to do varied things on your main first. Blizzard has not published the full challenge list, so treat the categories as the map and expect specifics to surface in beta (September 17 – October 21, level 30 cap).
Which Legacy tree should you fill first?
If you plan to level more than one character, Adventure first: Well Rested at +4% rested XP per rank plus a bigger rested cap is the perk that compounds every session, and Talented at level 9 makes early levels feel less bare. If your main is a gatherer feeding the auction house, Professions and Bountiful Harvest pay for themselves in stacks of ore and herbs.
Resourcefulness is the sleeper pick for casters: Reagent Economy sits deep in the tree, so it costs several points to reach, but skipping Ankhs, Symbols of Kings and similar reagents forever is worth it for anyone who has ever wiped a raid on a missing bag slot. Diplomat and For Great Honor matter most if reputation or PvP rank is your endgame.
Is Legacy account-wide, and does it carry into Hardcore?
Points are earned account-wide and can be spent by any character, though each character picks its own perks — your Warrior can go Professions-heavy while your Mage sits in Resourcefulness. Rulesets do not wall it off: Normal, PvP and Roleplaying share the same pool.
Hardcore is one-directional. Challenges you finish on a Hardcore character add to the account pool, but nothing from outside Hardcore benefits a Hardcore character. If Hardcore is your plan after launch, expect to earn perks the slow way there.
Do Legacy perks give a competitive advantage?
No. Blizzard framed the trees as non-combat quality-of-life, and the confirmed perks match that: skill-up chance, rested XP, durability, reputation, Honor and reagents. The reward track past your spendable points is purely cosmetic — the Spectral Bear mount and pet are prestige, not power. Exact rank caps per perk are still unknown, so do not plan a build around numbers Blizzard has not printed.
If you would rather have the grind side handled — a reputation pushed to Exalted for Diplomat challenges, a second class leveled to unlock more points, or a full 1–60 so your Legacy pool starts full on launch week — PewPewShop's vetted human players cover Forever pre-orders now: reputation hours from EUR 16, leveling 1–30 from EUR 13, and the Launch-Ready Pack with 1–60, pre-raid gear and 500g from EUR 219. Self-Play and coaching formats, no bots, long zero-ban record.
