The Paladin got more published detail than any other Forever class. That detail came in layers: Blizzard's class deep dive, several rounds of beta development notes, and a batch of hotfixes that Wowhead found on the live Forever servers on October 30. Wowhead reports those October 30 values from game data, and Blizzard has not confirmed them in its development notes, so treat them as the expected launch state. They can still change.

Paladin changes at a glance

The core rework gives the Paladin a mana-based tank, an active Holy healer and a Retribution spec that no longer needs addons to play. These are the numbers that matter most:

The talent framework is the same for every class. Talents open at level 10 and keep the original rows. Milestone talents sit at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points, and the 16-point milestone is new. Dual specialization unlocks at level 40, and to change talents you visit a class trainer in a major city.

Why did Righteous Fury move to level 10?

With Righteous Fury at level 10, a Protection Paladin can hold threat from the first talent point onward. Before the hotfix, a new Paladin tank leveled to 16 with nothing to raise threat. That was a long stretch for anyone queuing early dungeons like Hall of Thanes (13-18) or Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20).

Both of those dungeons now sit inside the window where a level 10 Paladin can already tank. Improved Righteous Fury also went up to 3/6/9% damage reduction, so investing in it pays off more.

How big is the Holy Shield nerf?

Holy Shield's damage fell by 32%, and its mana cost dropped from 150 to 100. Blizzard had already raised its block chance from 20% to 30% on the October 1 beta build, so the spell now leans further toward defense and away from damage.

For leveling and dungeon tanks this is mostly an AoE threat loss, and the cheaper cast offsets part of it. Pull packs with Consecration down and keep Holy Shield up for the blocks. In the same hotfix Templar's Bulwark became magic-dispellable, which matters mostly in PvP.

What is Turn Evil in WoW: Forever?

Turn Evil is a new Retribution ability added in the October 30 live hotfixes, per Wowhead. Its tooltip and exact effect were not part of that report, so we won't guess at them. Check the in-game tooltip at launch before you build around it.

The rest of Retribution has been confirmed for longer. Twist of Light, the 31-point talent, brings back Seal twisting without a swing-timer addon and cuts Seal mana cost by 20%. Sacred Arbiter raises Holy Strike damage by 20%. Vengeance procs from non-periodic crits and stacks to 3. In the late changes, Champion of the Light grew to 5 ranks and takes 1 second off Hammer of Wrath's cast. Vindication no longer gives attack power, and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization now boosts only physical damage and lowers threat by 20% at max rank.

What changed for Holy Paladins?

Holy gets more burst and more crit healing, but much less free spell hit. Divine Precision used to give up to 18% Holy spell hit. It now has 2 ranks for 8% and also shortens Silence effects by 20%. Holy Power now raises the critical healing bonus by 10/20/30/40/50%.

Boundless Light and Oath of Light are new talents. Reverence (mana from Spirit while casting) now has 2 ranks and still reaches 30% regeneration. Spiritual Focus goes to 5 ranks and caps at 70%. Holy Shock has a 10-second cooldown, and Divine Favor is now the 16-point milestone.

Does the Forever Paladin finally get an interrupt?

No. Paladins in Forever still have no interrupt and no slow. Blizzard added a tanking Seal, more group healing and a full Retribution kit, but those two gaps remain. When you play against casters or kiting classes, count on Hammer of Justice and your group's tools.

Blessing of Salvation and Greater Blessing of Salvation are replaced by Salvation and Mass Salvation, which no longer compete with your other blessings. Revoke is a new spell, and resistance auras now cover the whole raid within 30 yards.
