In WoW: Forever, a solo player kills an ordinary creature in roughly 10–15 seconds, and crowd control and Threat still matter in dungeons — that is Blizzard's own statement from the Deep Dive panel at BlizzCon on September 13, 2026. Pulls are meant to be planned, not sprinted: tanks hold aggro, healers manage mana between fights, and Polymorph, Sap or Freezing Trap on extra mobs are expected rather than optional. This is deliberate Classic-style pacing, not Modern-style pull-everything AoE.
Quick facts: what Blizzard has confirmed
- Solo kill time: roughly 10–15 seconds per ordinary creature.
- Crowd control: still matters in dungeons — official wording.
- Threat: still a live mechanic; tanks generate and hold it, DPS can pull off them.
- No level scaling: a 13–18 dungeon stays a 13–18 dungeon.
- Level cap: 60, permanently — dungeon tuning is for a fixed endpoint.
- Nine new dungeons at launch: Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20), City of Dalaran (20–35), Excavation Site: Wetlands, Drowned City, Blackmaw Hold, plus Alcaz Prison, Shaper's Terrace and Krol'dok Stronghold for 40–60. Every original Classic dungeon returns alongside them.
- Loot upgrade: unique dungeon boss items are now blue (Rare) quality; every dungeon drop was re-examined and hundreds were added.
Why does 10–15 seconds per mob change how dungeons feel?
Because it puts an arithmetic cap on what a group can survive. If one mob takes a solo player 10–15 seconds, a pack of four or five is a real fight for a five-person group, and two packs at once is usually a wipe. That is exactly the condition under which crowd control earns its slot: every mob you sheep, sap or trap is 10–15 seconds of damage nobody has to heal through.
It also means mana is a resource again. Healers and casters who chain-pull will sit down and drink; a group that marks targets and pulls in order keeps moving. Expect runs to reward communication over raw output, especially in the 40–60 tier.

Blizzard has confirmed Threat still matters, but has not published new numbers or modifiers, so treat the mechanics as Classic-style until we hear otherwise: the tank builds a threat lead, damage dealers who out-threat the tank get hit, and a healer who spikes a big heal early can pull a fresh mob. Practical habits that carry over: let the tank land the first hits, open on the tank's target, and hold burst until the pack is settled.
One published detail helps Paladin tanks specifically: Seal of Fury is a new Protection tanking Seal, and its Judgment taunts. Whether other tank classes received threat changes is unknown — Paladin is the only class with published details.
Which classes bring crowd control in Forever?
Forever launches with the Classic class roster, and Blizzard has said all classes and specializations were revamped without publishing details for anyone except Paladin. The safe assumption is that the classic CC toolkit is intact: Mage Polymorph, Rogue Sap, Hunter Freezing Trap, Priest Shackle Undead and Mind Control, Warlock Banish and Fear, Druid Hibernate and Entangling Roots. The one confirmed limitation is that Paladins still have no interrupt and no slow, so a Paladin-tank group leans on its DPS for control.
The Skyborne racials are also worth noting for dungeon groups: Elemental Insight (+5% damage to Elementals) is a genuine perk in elemental-heavy instances, and Undead Will of the Forsaken now removes Charm, Fear and Sleep without granting immunity.
Is Forever dungeon difficulty higher than Classic?
Not confirmed either way. What Blizzard has stated points to comparable pacing — 10–15 seconds per mob, CC and Threat mattering — rather than a harder or easier tune. Two things do raise the ceiling: no level scaling means you cannot outlevel a dungeon's mechanics by design, and the itemization pass (hit chances merged into one stat, crit chances merged, blue-quality boss uniques) suggests gear will matter more precisely. Boss lists and loot tables for the nine new dungeons have not been published.
